SKD61 often cracks when the customer use it as injection molding sheets which inserted into each other, What materials can you recommend?
Injection mold sheets have very high requirements on the toughness of the insert core and mold steel, otherwise it will easily break; but we often overlook that the core must maintain sufficient rigidity to ensure strength and prevent breakage.
It stands to reason that the alloy composition of SKD61 is 4Cr5MoSiV1 with a carbon content of 0.38%. The toughness of low-carbon materials is very good, but cracking still occurs. This is obviously caused by insufficient strength and poor rigidity.
Therefore, it is necessary to choose mold steel with high toughness and sufficient rigidity. LG mold steel is recommended here.
The toughness of LG mold steel is 8~9 times that of DC53, and the hardness is HRC54-58. The toughness is so good that it does not break even when bent. LG mold steel with good toughness and sufficient rigidity is used for connector pins and sheet inserts. , it can rebound without breaking when pressed, everyone who has used it is convinced!
